FOUNDA(C)TION
LIVE : As It Is @ Umbria Jazz Festival + Narni Black Festival 2010

The new ensemble that mixes pop-soul-rock-jazz-funk (!!) lands at the top Italian festival.
10 top notch musicians who recorded AS IT USED 2B , the up coming album containing 12 great selections written by Sirjo, with a special 5 pieces horn section.
The songs performed blend many different styles, while a vibrating positivity that transpires from the lyrics and the music ties them all magically together.
ACTION: from these songs starts a journey that combines groove, known riffs (and fresh new ones) and improvisation, where it’s hard to define genres and styles because they all melt into a sound that’s modern and vintage at the same time, while keeping its soulful vibe.
Beautiful and simple melodies on top of fresh and intriguing harmonies, with a rhythm that keeps its intense and contagious flow.
Futhermore the band will open for Chaka Khan, Maceo Parker and Tower of Power at Narni Black Festival (also in Umbria, near Terni) that takes place in Narni , one of the most beautiful and charming sites of Italy (see Calendar).

CHICK RODGERS
After the gigs in Orvieto for the last Umbria Jazz Winter edition, one of the greatest blues-soul voices is gonna perform 10 shows in Perugia for the summer edition of Umbria Jazz Festival: Chick Rodgers (born in Memphis, Chicago based) presents her versions of a handful of classics recorded in her album that's the first release for Koko Taylor's own label. And if the legendary queen of Chicago blues (we'll truly miss you , RIP..) had chosen Chick Rodgers as the first artist for her label, you can be assured she had an extra valid reason!!!
THE PLUG

Out in march on MY FAVORITE RECORDS the album DAWN, by THE PLUG (an idea by Giovanni Giorgi, drummer-producer-composer) , has already collected a good amount of great reviews from the European press. Its mix of live electronics , soulful vocals and avant garde jazz gives this project a real unique taste, and it's making a big buzz on the jazz scene on this side of the Atlantic.
